1st week at Penn State Univ.

The 1st semester will start on 22 Aug. and right now I'm in a process of choosing 1 audited
course + 1 sit-in class. I think I'll choose "Globalization & Lifelong Learning" as it fits my study background and I can apply it to the class when coming back to Thailand. The sit-in class'll be Higher Ed. in USA. as my main field here is Higher Ed. Administratrion in the college of Edu. That's the reason why I choose these graduate courses.

The 1st course will begin at 6-9 pm. since it belongs to the Adult Education. The class size is very small. Just 20 students. On the contrary, the other class starts in the early morning at 8-11 am. I don't know which class schedule will be hard for me. Studying in the morning is good but if it's very cold, it's difficult to get up whereas studying at night will make me sleepy and tired.

I searched course material online and found that I couldn't get it from the library so probably I've to buy used book online. In USA, you can sell your textbook after the completion of the course and you will get about 10-20 % of the price back.  After finishing course in UC Davis, I sold one book " Beyond Language" and got $5 back.

I'm staying in 4-bed apt. in the campus where's quite far from lecture halls so I plan to rent a bike / buy a used one even knowing that I can ride just for 3 months because in winter, it's quite impossible to cycle. I'll look for it online since it's cheaper. I've heard that it's just about $ 30.

I'm having a good time here esp. when I can access to internet in my room. When I was in CA, I I surf internet just in the computer lap so I spent most of my time, apart from studying, on reading at night. Here, I've more time to read online news and chat via Facebook.

However, when the Fall semester begins, I don't think I'll have much time to enjoy doing nothing.

One thing that I try to adjust is bed time. It's nearly midnight at the moment, but I still awake. Time in CA is slower than PA about 3 hrs. So, I think perhaps my brain's still familiar with time in CA :-
