2 exams in 1 week: that's common for students, isn't it?

Taking tests, apart from doing assignment, is a part of  students' life.
We Humphrey Fellow III took the placement exam in Elizabeth’s writing class.
We’re supposed to take it the day before but according to the problem of the poor quality of the tape player, we had to postpone to Wednesday 13, July 2011 instead because there’s no point of taking the test if we could not hear well.

The placement test consisted of 100 problems: listening, grammar, reading comprehension. I tried to take time to do the test without hurries and didn’t force myself to answer each question too quickly.

Oh!! We’d 2 hours to finish our exam, but half of fellows finished it around 2.15. How fast! I’m relief when seeing there was 5 fellows left, not just me in the room. Wonder why they did it so quick. Even it’s not much difficult, but if we’re careless, it’s hard to get good scores.

Later, I asked some fellows, they said it’s easy. Most of us passed the TOEFL, so this kind of placement test is like a piece of banana from their perspectives.

I just realized that the reason why we 18 fellows in group III had 3-week intensive English course was because we got high TOEFL scores than other Fellow I & II. As I know later, the Humphrey fellow I’d join 6 week program whereas the other join 4 week program. We the last group joined 3 week program which was very tough and rush because since other groups could take time to study and do assignment in nearly 1 month and a half, but our group had to finish every assignment in 3 weeks so it’s likely that our schedule was packed with studying all day from 8.30 am.– 3.10 pm. and participated in other extra class or lectures.

Back to the result of the placement test

The next day some of us asked Elizabeth about our scores so after class, she came to the other office to collect the sheet answer, but nobody there so we didn’t know our scores. Quite disappointed.

Today ( Friday 15 July 2011) in her class we still asked her about the result, again she went to the office and this time she got it.

We’re not allowed to get the answer sheet from her, probably because it’ confidential and the exam might be used again (by the next group).

My name was called the second last person. I wasn’t surprised as I thought in American culture, my last name, Wisamitanan, was nearly the last alphabet and the name calling style here is called alphabetically.

I came and saw my scores. Wow! Even though I thought that I could do this exam very well, I didn’t think that I would get 93% from 100%. So proud!

Yesterday I also did the mini public presentation entitled 3 things my friends never know about me in front of the class. So nervous as I was the 1st person. ( Surely from being the last student alphabetically and then took turn to be the first one). This time I got 95 % from Susan's class. She commented that I can tell a lot of stories within a short time, well-organized and well-thought out. However, sometimes, I looked at the ceiling. Haha..
The highest score was 98 % done by Tatjana, a lecturer from Slovenia, my roommate.
