This is Natthaya. You can simply call me 'Som'. I have just had a great experience
of an internship at the Royal Thai Embassy Singapore last summer. Normally, I
always have a strong will to do productive activities during school holidays. I
just cannot stay at home doing nothing or spend my time just sleeping and
eating; therefore, I decided to do an internship at the overseas embassy.
Though I have been traveling a lot, I have never stayed in foreign countries
for more than 2 weeks. I want to explore different lifestyles in other
countries which I was lucky enough to have permission from my parents.
The Royal Thai Embassy is located on
Orchard Road, one of the most well-known streets in the world. This piece of
land belongs to King Rama V. King Rama V who bought it since he went to
Singapore in the old times. He was a man of vision for buying the top ranking
expensive land in the world. It is one and only Thailand's land outside the
Kingdom of Thailand. That is why I am so glad to be there. Even though it is
just a short period of time, it was a precious thing to do once in a lifetime.
My duty included doing assignment
directly from the ambassador, the ministry, the ministry counselor and other
diplomats in the embassy. I somehow worked about the confidential government
information or official documents and letters. Therefore, I had to watch out
the information to be leaked out. Furthermore, I was responsible for passport
and Thai ID card served Thai people who live in Singapore. Due to the fact that
the Royal Thai Embassy Singapore is a government sector, working there was
quite strict in detail and in time limited. I should do everything correctly
and in sequence of the process. Luckily, I had such a good team. All officers
including the ambassador, the ministry, the ministry counselors were very kind
to me. They taught me how to work neatly.
They not only taught about the office work there, but also how to live
properly and stay gold.
I am extremely grateful to have been
able to have the priceless experience. This entire experience has broadened my
mind and worldviews . Lastly, I might
say it taught me so much more than I would ever expected.
